SISEE - Social Innovation / Social Entrepreneurship Education

Since 01 October 2022, the joint project Social Innovation / Social Entrepreneurship Education (SISEE) of the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences (HNEE), the Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany (SEND) and the University of Bayreuth (UBT) has started. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The aim of the project is to create an open exchange of experience on content-related and structural aspects for the implementation and permanent anchoring of SI/SE education formats.

Successful project completion:

University Network for Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Education (SIE/SEE),

The project ‘University Network for Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Education (SIE/SEE)’, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which we carried out in cooperation with the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and the Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany, was successfully completed on 31 August 2024. During the project, three publications were produced that help to implement social innovation and social entrepreneurship teaching in the German higher education landscape in the long term. These include a brochure, a collection of further education and training tools and a three-part podcast.

The brochure "Effectively Designing and Establishing Social Innovation Education & Social Entrepreneurship Education - a Guide for University Practice" is available on the website of the Platform for Social Innovation and Enterprises for the Common Good:

The brochure shares good practices for designing interdisciplinary teaching programmes that bring together students from different disciplines to develop innovative ideas. The brochure also contains recommendations for embedding social innovation and social entrepreneurship in the university structure, including valuable insights into the cooperation strategies of successful projects.

The brochure also provides impulses for a sustainable transfer culture - so that knowledge from universities does not remain in lecture theatres, but flows into practice.

We have also bundled educational materials for impact-oriented university programmes in the form of training and further education tools. The materials cover a wide range of topics and are available to the public:

To accompany the project, we have also produced and published the three-part podcast Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Education: Good Practices
https://open.spotify.com/show/51BWJWpeMHMuPwZiLcg7ar?si=cf16740b61244c93

In the podcast, Prof. Dr Britta Gossel and David Schroff-Spiering, M.Sc. talk to Prof. Dr Lisa von der Heydte and Timo Adiek, MA and Michael Kortenbrede, MA about the good practices of social innovation and social entrepreneurshipteaching, implementation and transfer.

A big thank you goes to the 12 participating universities who shared their good practices and experiences. Their commitment is making a significant contribution to further advancing social innovation and social entrepreneurship education in the German higher education landscape.
